Responsibilities of the Disability Support Worker Role
In this critical position, you will support individuals with complex behaviours and medical needs.
Key tasks include:
- Reading and implementing Behaviour Support Plans
- Applying and documenting restrictive practices ethically
- Supporting clients with personal care, hygiene, and medical needs
- Assisting with meal planning, cooking, and light housekeeping
- Encouraging community participation and inclusion
This role requires high emotional intelligence, patience, and strong communication skills. Ownership of a smartphone for rostering purposes is also essential.

Ideal Candidate Profile
You are a confident, compassionate, and experienced professional. You understand that quality support comes from a mix of skill, empathy, and training.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in complex support
- Deep understanding of Behaviour Support Plans and restrictive practices
- Relevant qualifications in Disability Support
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Availability for night shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- NSW Driver’s Licence, First Aid Certificate, and full work rights in Australia
